I am primarily interested in understanding the stratigraphical, foraminiferal
biostratigraphical and paleoenvironmental evolution across different geological
time boundaries with main emphasis on Paleocene/Eocene boundary, I use an
integrated multi-proxy based approach (such as foraminifera, dinoflagellates
and stable isotopes). Besides stratigraphy, foraminiferal biostratigraphy and
paleoenvironments, I am also interested in petroleum geology, my interest in petroleum geology circles around characterization of carbonate
reservoirs based on petrographical and petrophysical properties. In addition to
reservoir aspects of petroleum geology, I am also interested in organic
geochemisty of shales for conventional source rock as well as unconventional
shale gas evaluations. I have a number of research publications to my credit
and has produced more than a dozen of postgraduate students in the subjects of
my interest. Some PDF’s of my research papers can be accessed through my researchgate ID https://www.researchgate.net/profile/Dr_Muhammad_Hanif2,
PDF’s of my student’s thesis are also available at NCEG website http://nceg.upesh.edu.pk. I am involved in a number of
research projects at national and international levels. One of my international research projects is titled as ‘late Paleocene-early Eocene
orthophragminids of the eastern Tethys from Indus Basin, Pakistan’. This
project is sponsored by the Scientific and Technological Research Council (TÜBITAK), Turkey. At national level, i am currently involved as co-PI in a research project titled as “Investigating the
stratigraphy, facies and 3D architecture of the carboniferous Permian
successions of the Salt Range, Pakistan: an analogue for the oil bearing
reservoir strata of the Arabian Peninsula”, this project is sponsored by Higher
Education Commission through HEC-NRPU program. | |
