RE-ADMISSION NOTICE FOR

Admission to M.S/M.Phil. Program in
Earth Sciences
Session 2017-2018 (Fall Semester)

For the Session 2017-2018, NCE in Geology seeks applications for admission in the following programs of studies:

  1. M.S./M.Phil in the Discipline of GEOLOGY     (25 seats)

    2. Specializations

    • Structural Geology/Tectonics
    • Engineering Geology
    • Mineralogy/Petrology/Geochemistry
    • Economic Geology

    Applicants with M.Sc/BS (4 years) in the fields of Geology, Geophysics and Engineering (Geotechnical/Mining/Civil) from the HEC recognized universities with the required division/CGPA as per regulations of the University of Peshawar are eligible for admission.

  2. M.S/M.Phil in GEOPHYSICS (5 seats)

    3. Specializations

    • Earthquake Seismology
    • Hydrogeophysics
    • Exploration Seismology
    • Petrophysics
    • Gravity
    • Magnetism

    Applicants with M.Sc/BS (4 years) in the fields of Geophysics and Geology will be preferred but those holding Physics, Mathematics and Engineering (Geotechnical/Mining/Civil) from the HEC recognized universities with the required division/CGPA as per regulations of the University of Peshawar are eligible for admission.


  3. M.S/M.Phil in ENVIRONMENTAL GEOSCIENCES  (5 seats)

    4. Specializations

    • Natural Hazards
    • Environmental Geochemistry
    • Medical Geology

     

    Applicants with M.Sc/BS (4 years) in the fields relevant to Earth and Environmental Sciences and Engineering from the HEC recognized universities with the required division/CGPA as per regulations of the University of Peshawar are eligible for admission.

  4. MS/M.Phil  in GEOSPATIAL SCIENCES  (5 seats)

Specializations

  • GIS/Remote Sensing and their applications

Applicants with M.Sc/BS (4 years) in the fields relevant to Earth and Environmental Sciences and Engineering from the HEC recognized universities with the required division/CGPA as per regulations of the University of Peshawar are eligible for admission.


Eligibility

    • Relevant Master's degree / 4-years education after intermediate (130 Credit hours), with a minimum CGPA 2.5 in Semester System or 2nd Division in Annual System.
    • Candidate must pass Screening Test conducted by the Centre by securing at least 60% marks.

Important:

  • Candidates employed in any Government or Semi-Government Department/ Organization must submit No Objection Certificate from the concerned Department/ Organization within 30 days after initial selection,failing which the selection shall be deemed cancelled.
  • Provision of hostel accommodation is not mandatory and is subject to availability of seats.
  • In case of ambiguity about eligibility, the opinion of the Graduate Studies Committee of the Centre shall be taken into consideration.
  • Schedule for test/interview, scrutiny of papers and remittance of fee shall be within the period between 24th to  27th  October, 2017.
  • The candidates are advised to closely follow the NCEG website (http://nceg.uop.edu.pk/) for the schedule for Test/Interview/ remittance of fee and other relevant information because no calls/messages and call letters shall be issued for test/interview.

 

Deadline: Application submission deadline in the office of Directorate of Admission,
University of Peshawar is 20th October, 2017.

Note: 1-Admission forms along with prospectus are available from UBL University Campus Branch, Peshawar.
          2-Applicants who have already applied for M.S/M.Phil. programs of NCE in Geology through Director     
              Admissions, University of Peshawar in response to the Admission Notice dated August 30, 2017 don’t  need to apply again.
