PhD Studentship Opportunity

Applications are invited from eligible (having MS/Mphil and seeking admission in PhD or already enrolled in PhD course work and starting research) and interested candidates for the following PhD studentship
Stratigraphic correlation, facies modelling and 3D architecture of the Carboniferous-Permian successions of the Salt Range, Pakistan: An analogue for the oil-bearing reservoir-strata of the Arabian Peninsula”

The salient features of the PhD studentship are as follows:
    • The scholar will be getting training on sedimentology, palynology and palynofacies studies.
    • The scholar will get a chance to avail few weeks attachment at the laboratories at the British Geological Survey, Nottingham, UK or Univ. Of Leicester, UK for understating palynological and sedimentological techniques and processing.
    • The current PhD studentship is a part of the grant that has been awarded to Dr. Irfan U. Jan (Principle Investigator), Prof. Dr. Michael Stephenson and Dr. M. Hanif (Co. Principle Investigators) thus the student will be working under an active team of supervisors and investigators.
    • The scholar will get an opportunity to combine palynology and clastic and carbonate sedimentology.
    • The scholar will work in line with the proposal that has been already devised by the group of supervisors and proposers.
    Requirements
    • The applicant with a proven academics record with no 3rd division in the academic career.
    • The applicant shall have prior understanding of sedimentology and palynology/paleontology processing and interpretations.
    • The applicant is pace taking and meets all assigned deadlines.
    • A selection committee comprised of faculty member of the NCEG suggested by Dr. Irfan U. Jan and approved and assigned by the Director NCEG will evaluate each applicant.
    • The decision of the committee regarding selection of the applicant will be final.
    • The selectee will have to sign a deed of agreement between the NCEG (party) and himself and his/her original documents will be kept with the NCEG until the completion of the studentship and he/she will be given stipend during the course of PhD.
