Higher Education Commission of Pakistan has up-graded the Journal of Himalayan Earth Sciences, published by NCEG to “X” Category Journal.
The Journal of Himalayan Earth Sciences is an official scholarly journal of the National Center of Excellence in Geology, University of Peshawar. Since its inception in 1964 (formerly known as the Geological Bulletin of the University of Peshawar), the journal has been publishing research articles in the field of earth sciences. It has a reputation of a leading journal in the field of earth sciences in the country. The Editorial Board and faculty of the National Center of Excellence in Geology, have been working in improving the status of the journal both nationally and on the international level. Recently, owing to the efforts of the NCEG, the journal has been up-graded to “X” Category by Higher Education Commission of Pakistan. Category “X” is regarded as the second highest ranking journals in the country. The editorial team’s next milestone is to get the journal recognized as an Impact Factor journal, for which some significant steps have already been taken. The director NCEG congratulated the Editorial Team of the journal for achieving such an important milestone and encouraged them to pursue it further.
