Distinguished National Scholorship Award

Dr. Asif Khan is awarded Distinguished National Professorship by HEC

 

HEC has announced results of awards for Distingushed National Professorship for 2011-2012. Dr. M. Asif Khan from this Centre is one of the four selected for this award on all Pakistan basis.


Dr. Asif Khan is a Tenured Professor and Director at the National Centre of Excellence in Geology. With a PhD from the Imperial College London, and four international post-doctoral fellowships at UT Dallas, Oxford, Penstate and Lehigh universities, Dr. Asif Khan has published over 100 research papers, two coloured geological maps, and three books, including one published by the Geological Society of London. In reconition of his research contributions, Dr. Asif Khan previously received civil award of Tamgha-i-Imtiaz in 2000, Pakistan Academy of Sciences Gold Medal in Earth Sciences in 2002 and PCST Research Productivity Award 2006-2012. He is a life-long fellow of the Geological Society London (elected 2008) and Pakistan Academy of Sciences (elected 2009).


Notably, the only prior recipient of this award from the Khyber-Paktunkhwa universities was Dr. M. Qasim Jan who also belongs to National Centre of Excellence in Geology, university of Peshawar.
