The National Centre of Excellence in Geology, University of Peshawar (NCEG) is the leading Earth Sciences Research and Higher Education Institution in the country. The Centre offers post-graduate study programs including Ph.D, M.Phil, MS and Post-Graduate Diploma. The Government of Pakistan has awarded the Center’s faculty with Civil and Presidential Awards for Centre’s contributions in the field of Earth & Environmental Sciences.
This Centre has state of the art laboratories (details available on Centre’s website). GIS/Remote Sensing lab is one of those labs and well equipped with advance instrumentation including Mobile GIS (Trimble Slate Controller & Stonex S4 II), Field Portable Spectroradiometer (PSR 3500), UAV’s (DJI Inspired-2), DGPS (Trimble RTK), Handheld GPSs, Time lapse cameras, Total Station (GPT 7500) etc. The GIS/RS lab has space for more than 40 students facilitated with more than 20 high duty workstations (PCs).
Every year NCEG offers One-year (2 semesters, fall and spring) Post graduate Diploma in GIS & Remote Sensing since 2002 with highly qualified faculty. The Centre has produced over 383 diploma graduates under this program, working in different well-reputed organizations in Pakistan and abroad.
Eligibility
- A minimum qualification of Bachelor degree in Science or Arts (B.Sc/BA) with at least second division.
- Preference will be given to those having Geology,Geography, Environmental sciences, computer science and relevant Engineering degrees with basic computer knowledge.
Important Dates and Procedure:
- Application submission deadline is September 03, 2018
- Merit list date is September 06, 2018 (NCEG Notice Board & NCEG website)
- Interview of the selected candidates will be held at 10:00 a.m. on September 12, 2018 at NCE in Geology, University of Peshawar.
- Commencement of classes will be from September 24, 2018

Prescribed application forms are available at the Centre’s office on a payment of Rs. 200/- or can be downloaded from Centre’s website i.e. http://nceg.uop.edu.pk/downloads.html and the payment of Rs. 200/- can be made at the time of submission. Admission forms can also be sent by Post with a bank draft of Rs. 200/- in the name of Director, NCE in Geology, University of Peshawar
