National Centre of Excellence in Geology, University of Peshawar (NCEG), established under the Parliament Act in 1974, is the leading Earth Sciences Research and Higher Education institution in the country. The Centre offers post-graduate study programs including Ph.D, M.Phil, MS and Post-Graduate Diploma awarded by the University of Peshawar. This Centre has state of the art laboratories including Electron Microprobe (EPMA), Wet-Geochemistry, X-Ray Fluorescence spectrometer (XRF), X-Ray Diffractometre (XRD), GIS/Remote Sensing, Thin section Cutting and Polishing , GPS Geodesy,  Petroleum Geochemistry, Hydro-geophysics, Petrography/Microscopy, Environmental Soil Science, Paleontology, and a National Library of Earth Sciences. The Centre has highly qualified faculty with 18 Ph.Ds, 12 M.Phils, assisted by 5 Research Associates. Recognizing Centre’s contributions in the field of Earth & Environmental Sciences, the Government of Pakistan has awarded the Center’s faculty with 4 Civil Awards and 5 Presidential Awards.

Geotechnical Material Testing and Evaluation (GMTE)

Every year NCEG offers 1-year (2 semesters, fall and spring) Post graduate Diploma in GIS & Remote Sensing since 2002 and has produced over 347 graduates under this Diploma program, working in different well reputed organizations over the country and abroad. Admissions are now open in Post Graduate Diploma in GIS & Remote for the session 2016-17.
Eligibility

  • Minimum qualification of Bachelor degree in Science or Arts (B.Sc/BA) with at least second division.
  • Preference will be given to those having Geology, Geography, Environmental sciences and Engineering degrees with computer background.

NCEG announces admission in Post Graduate Diploma in “Geotechnical Material Testing and Evaluation”. The course is relevant to the construction material and earth, which is required in the field of construction of buildings, roads and dams. Students will be trained for taking an effective role in the national building projects. Also the students will be trained up to a level to take responsibilities in projects implementation as geologist in the construction of civil structure.
Eligibility

  • Graduates having Bachelor degree at least in second division in Geology/Civil Engineering/Mining Engineering

 

Important Dates and Procedure:

  • Application deadline is September 5, 2016
  • Interview of the selected candidates will be held at 10:00 a.m. on September 19, 2016 at NCE in Geology, University of Peshawar.
  • Merit list date is September 20, 2016
  • Admissions and fee deposition at the Centre’s office September 20-28, 2016
  • Commencement of classes will be from October 3, 2016

Prescribed application forms are available at Centre’s office on a payment of Rs. 250/- or can be downloaded from Centre’s website i.e. http://nceg.upesh.edu.pk/downloads.html and the payment of Rs. 250 can be made at the time of submission.
