Post graduate Diploma in Geographic Information System & Remote Sensing (GIS/RS)

The National Centre of Excellence in Geology (NCEG), University of Peshawar is a leading Earth Sciences Research and Higher Education institution in the country. The Centre offers programs including M.S/M.Phil/Ph.D. and Post-Graduate Diploma awarded by the University of Peshawar. A host of sophisticated research laboratories including Electron Microprobe, XRF, XRD, Geochemistry, GIS/RS, GPS Geodesy, Petroleum Geochemistry, Hydrogeophysics, Geophysics and Petrography/Microscopy/Gemology are located at the Centre catering needs of academia and industry. The Centre has strong faculty with most of them foreign qualified. This Centre has produced large number of MS/M.Phil./Ph.D and Post Graduate Diploma students who are employed in leading R&D organizations and industries. Centre has published over 600 Research Papers, 12 Books and 6 Coloured Geological Maps, in addition to the Centre’s annual HEC recognized X-Category research journal entitled “Journal of Himalayan Earth Sciences”. The Centre’s archives of books, maps and journals have been recognized by HEC as the National Library of Earth Sciences. Recognizing Centre’s contributions in the field of Earth & Environmental Sciences, the Government of Pakistan has awarded the Centre’s faculty with 6 Civil Awards and 4 Presidential Awards. Centre has completed several developmental projects, and is in the process of completing an ECNEC approved PC-I Project of establishing a New Campus (academic and residential) with 22 laboratories and 20 Foreign Ph.D. fellowships.

Eligibility

• A minimum qualification of Bachelor degree in Science or Arts (B.Sc/BA) with at least second division.
• Preference will be given to those having Geology, Geography, Environmental sciences and Engineering degrees with computer background.

Important Dates and Procedure:

• Application form available from August 03, 2015 (See ***)

• Application deadline is August 21, 2015
• Interview* of the selected candidates will be held at 10:00 a.m. on August 31, 2015 at NCEG, University of Peshawar.
• Merit list will be displayed on September 07, 2015
• Admissions and fee deposition at the Centre’s office September 07-11, 2015

***How to obtain the admission form
Prescribed application forms are available at Centre’s office on a payment of Rs. 250/- or can be downloaded from Centre’s website i.e. http://nceg.upesh.edu.pk/downloads.html and the payment of Rs. 250/- can be made at the time of submission.
