The National Centre of Excellence in Geology, University of Peshawar is the leading Earth Sciences Research and Higher Education institution in the country. Established under the Parliament Act in 1974, the Centre offers post-graduate study programs including Ph.D, M.Phil, MS and Post-Graduate Diploma awarded by the University of Peshawar. This Centre has state of the art laboratories including Electron Microprobe (EPMA), Wet-Geochemistry, X-Ray Fluorescence spectrometer (XRF), X-Ray Diffractometre (XRD), GIS/Remote Sensing, Thin section Cutting and Polishing , GPS Geodesy, Petroleum Geochemistry, Hydro-geophysics, Petrography/Microscopy, Environmental Soil Science, Paleontology, and a National Library of Earth Sciences. The Centre has highly qualified faculty with 18 Ph.Ds, 11 M.Phil, assisted by 5 Research Associates. Recognizing Centre’s contributions in the field of Earth & Environmental Sciences, the Government of Pakistan has awarded the Center’s faculty with 4 Civil Awards and 4 Presidential Awards.

National Centre of Excellence in Geology, University of Peshawar started 1-year (2 semesters, fall and spring) Post graduate Diploma in GIS & Remote Sensing in 2002. Since then, over 315 students have graduated under this Diploma program. For the session 2014-15, NCEG announces admission in Post Graduate Diploma in GIS & Remote Sensing.

Eligibility
  • A minimum qualification of Bachelor degree in Science or Arts (B.Sc/BA) with at least second division.
  • Preference will be given to those having Geology, Geography, Environmental sciences and Engineering degrees with computer background.
Important Dates and Procedure:
  • Application form available from September 01, 2014 (See ***)
  • Application deadline is September 19, 2014
  • Interview* of the selected candidates will be held at 10:00 a.m. on September 23, 2014 at NCE in Geology, University of Peshawar.
  • Merit list date is September 25, 2014.
  • Admissions and fee deposition at the Centre’s office September 25-30, 2014
  • Classes will be started from October 01, 2014.

How to obtain the admission form
Prescribed application forms are available at Centre’s office on a payment of Rs. 250/- or can be downloaded from Centre’s website i.e. http://nceg.upesh.edu.pk/downloads.html and the payment of Rs. 250 can be made at the time of submission.
