MOU Signed between GIS and Space Applications in Geosciences (GSAG) Laboratory, NCE in Geology, University of Peshawar

GIS & Space Applications in Geosciences (GSAG) Laboratory is established at the National Centre of Excellence in Geology (NCEG), University of Peshawar. The GSAG is an affiliated laboratory of the National Center of GIS and Space Applications (NCGSA), Institute of Space Technology, Islamabad, established under a PC1 project of the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan. This lab aims to utilize the advanced GIS techniques and remote sensing data supported with the in-situ data for geosciences applications with a specific focus on geo-hazards, minerals/geological applications, forests and water resources. Department of Environmental Sciences is an academic department of the Karakorum International University, Gilgit.
This Memorandum of Understanding is to formalize cooperation between the GSAG-NCEG and Department of Environmental Science, Karakorum International University. This cooperation shall promote and enhance the collaboration between these organizations; shall advance the knowledge base in the field of Earth and Environmental Sciences
In particular, this cooperation shall include the following endeavors:
- Exchange of scientific, and other technical information and data with mutual consensus.
- Joint supervision of graduate students on research projects of mutual interest.
- To carry out joint workshops, seminars, and symposia as needed to foster collaboration on particular research themes.
- Exchange visits of individual research personnel for collaboration on research projects and other activities.
- To pursue funding in support of this cooperative program.
In each of the above collaborative efforts involving human and fiscal resources from either side, specific plans for each activity will be jointly developed and agreed upon before implementation.
