Geol.640 Material Testing (3C.H)
Course contents: Moisture content, grain size analysis, determination of consistency limits and indices, compaction and shear tests like direct shear and triaxial shear, assessments like California bearing ratio and plate bearing, soil-cement mix design, tests on road aggregates such as crushing value, abrasion, soundness, specific gravity, water absorption, shape, and stripping value, as well as examinations of bituminous materials involving penetration, ductility, softening point, specific gravity, viscosity, flash and fire point tests, and evaluations of cutback, emulsion, tar, joint filler, sealer, and finally, assessments of concrete strength, workability, and asphalt stability through Marshall and Haveem tests.
