Course Contents: Introduction to Rock Mechanics, Geological setting, analysis of stress and strain, elasticity theory, Differential equation In elasticity theory, Rock strength and failure criteria, mechanical properties & behavior of rocks, In situ stress measurements, rock mass classification, UCS determination of rocks., Tri-axial tests, Brazilian Tests, Direct Shear strength, Slake Durability tests; Point Load Index test, Schmidt Hammer Rebound Number determination test, Determination of Rock Porosity and Permeability, Study of Creep Behavior of Rocks.
