Geos.800 SPATIAL DATA MODELLING USING GIS (3 CH)
GIS and spatial analysis, data concepts in GIS, maps and its types, input data sources for GIS, RS as input data source for GIS data modeling, data types based on computer representation, geo-relational data models, vector and raster data models, concepts of geo-databases, symbology, topology building, data accuracy, quality and management systems, model builder, spatial interpolation for generating surfaces such as digital elevation models (DEM), analysis and display of digital terrain models, 3-D analysis, visualization of spatial data including colour theory, GIS based spatial analysis techniques.
Lab Exercises on: ILWIS 3.6, Arcview3.3 and ArcGIS 9.2, Map Info.
Pre-requisite: Geos.705 (GEOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION SYSTEM)
