Course Contents:
Texture of clastic sedimentary rocks, Sedimentary structures, their classification and hydrodynamic conditions, Paleocurrent analysis and provenance of clastic rocks, Sedimentary environments, facies and facies associations of Continental environments: rivers, lakes, glaciers, Deserts and wind. Transitional environments: Tidal flats, Delta, estuary, shoreline and interdeltaic complexes, Marine environments: Shelf, slope and deep marine. Diagenesis, porosity and permeability of clastic rocks.
Practical:
Hand specimen and petrographic study of clastic rocks; grain size analysis, recording, plotting and interpretation of data for paleocurrent analysis, Rose Diagram; field techniques for study of clastic sedimentary rocks.
