Geol.770 METAMORPHIC STRUCTURES (3 CH)
Tectonics and their significance, concept of fabric, fabric axes, kinemetic axes and symetry of tectonics, foliation and its transposition, processes leading to the development of various forms of cleavage and other metamorphic layering, origin and significance of different linear structures in metamorphic rocks, inter-relationship of lineations with foliations and folded surfaces, superposed folding and fold interface patterns, analysis of superposed folds by geometric techniques, case studies where foliation, lineation, and superposed folding have been used to interpret the tectonic histories of poly-deformed areas.
