Geol.720 GEOLOGICAL SITE INVESTIGATION (3C.H)
Purpose of geotechnical investigation, site investigation strategy, sources of information, desk studies: study of available literature, toposheets and maps, interpretation and quantification of geomorphological and geological characteristics of rocks and mapping of rock mass structures using digital elevation models, aerial photographs and satellite images, exploration drilling and sampling techniques, geotechnical and hydrological borehole and in situ testing and its equipment, displacement and deformation measurement techniques, remediation techniques, laboratory testing and basic instrumentations, recording geotechnical data, interpretation and use in creating a conceptual model of the ground, data presentation, report writing and contract documents.
