Envg.755 Natural Resource Management (3 C.H)
Course Objectives
This course will enable the students to understand the natural resources of the country and management of such resources.
Course Contents
- Natural resources: renewable and non-renewable
- Ecosystems: terrestrial and aquatic systems
- Natural potential of landscape ecology: spatial heterogeneity and patterns
- Natural or man-made disturbance, impact on ecology and environment, biological, economic, and recreational value of natural resources
- Social and environmental indicators
- Community based approaches: equity, empowerment, conflict resolution, knowledge and awareness, biodiversity protection, and sustainable resource utilization, promoting participatory processes, making improved use of existing knowledge
- Developing indicators of change and resilience to monitor ecosystem dynamics, transforming existing institutions toward ecosystem management, institutional approaches: knowledge, practices, and institutional context.
