Rahman and Hanif collection of larger benthic foraminifera (2018)
Project: Morphometric Analysis of Larger Benthic Foraminifera of Late Palaeocene-Early
Eocene, Laki Range, Sindh, Pakistan.
Research Scholar: Mr. Maqsood Ur Rahman
Project Supervisor: Dr. Muhammad Hanif
The samples were collected from Upper Paleocene-Lower Eocene succession (Lakhra and Laki formations) Laki Range of Lower Indus Basin, Pakistan. The samples collection sites include; Bara Nala Section (26°06'N, 67°54'E), SN1 Section (25°36'N, 68°6' E), Lakhra Road Section (25°43'N, 68°11'E), Khanu Brohi Section (25°25'N, 68°11'E), Jhimpir Section (25°2' 12 ″N, 68°11'4″E), and Jurackpur Section (25° 2'N, 68°15'E).
The oriented and random rock thin sections are preserved. The samples are categorized into various genera, including specimens of Discocyclinids, Alveolina, Nummulites, Assilina, Ranikothalia, Lockhartia, and Miscellanea. The specimens of each genus are further classified into subsamples.
At current, visitors can only study the samples in the paleontology laboratory of NCEG. The microphotographs of the representative specimens will be uploaded after the publication and will be available online for free.
