Concluding Reports


Following the successful event of EARTH SCIENCES PAKISTAN (ESP) 2010, the National Centre of Excellence in Geology (NCEG) and Department of Geology, University of Peshawar, are jointly organizing EARTH SCIENCES PAKISTAN (ESP) 2012. The ESP (2012) will provide a platform to bring together earth scientists engaged in basic and applied research in different areas of earth sciences. Besides, traditional conference themes (listed below), this conference offers sponsored sessions to all those government and non-government organizations who want to showcase their research and professional activities in front of the community.

Important dates

15 April, 2012: Abstract submission deadline
01 June, 2012 : Final Registration
23-24 June, 2012: Conference
01 August 2012: Submission of complete manuscripts for consideration in the JHES.

Abstract submission and correspondences

Abstract template
The conference abstracts will be published in a special volume of the Journal of Himalayan Earth Sciences (JHES). Each oral presentation will be for 15 minutes including 2 minutes for discussion in the end. Submit your abstract to (post or email):

Fee
Registration Rs. 2000 (1000 for students)
Boarding/lodging Package 1: Rs. 4000 (02 nights campus accommodation, Rs. 2000 for students)
Package 2 (Hotel accommodation, 02 nights, single bed room Rs. 10,000; twin bed room Rs. 7000)
Meals Both package 1 & 2 cover all meals and refreshments from 22 June (evening) to 24 June (evening)

Two separate symposia are designed. Symposia A covers traditional conference themes, whereas Symposia B covers sponsored sessions (details below).

Theme 5: Sedimentology and Biostratigraphy
Theme 6: Petroleum Exploration
Theme 7: Geo-surveys and Maps, Revised Stratigraphy
Theme 8: Engineering Geology and Geomachnics
Theme 9: Ground and Surface Water Hydrology, Water Resources
Theme 10: Geoscience Information through Satellite
Theme 11: Geohazards: Earthquake and Engineering Seismology, Floods, Landslides
Theme 12: Disaster management and mitigation

Symposia B (Sponsored Sessions)
Sponsored sessions will provide excellent opportunity to all those government and non-goverment organizations who want to showcase their research and professional activities in front of the community. Each sponsored session will be for 1 to 3 hours maximum. The advantage of sponsored session is that the session will be exclusively dedicated to that particular organization, i-e., the organization will lead/chair the whole session. Prizes and Awards

Following certificates will be awarded at the end of the conference:
1) Best student presentation award (3 awards): students who wish to present their research work must register for this award immediately before the conference either with Dr. M. Sayab or Dr. Rubina Bilquees.
2) Best paper award (3 awards): This award will be for those scientists who published their work in reputed international journals in the year 2011. In case of multiple authors, award will be given to first author only. For consideration, submit your published paper before 01 June, 2012 to Dr. M. Sayab (msayab@upesh.edu.pk).
