NCEG Inauguration 2015

Honorable Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sardar Mehtab Ahmed Khan Abbasi, has formally inaugurated the New Campus of the National Center of Excellence in Geology, University of Peshawar on November 19, 2015. The New Campus has been constructed through PC-1 project under the auspices of the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan. It is comprised of Administration and Academic blocks, hostels for boys, girls and faculty, foreign faculty guest house and 16, two bed room apartments for faculty.  The academic block has state of the art facilities including class rooms, 17 laboratories, geological museum and a National Library of Earth Sciences.
The Governor after unveiling the Inauguration Plaque and Ribbon cutting ceremony visited the various state of the art laboratories and the National Library of Earth Sciences. During the inaugural Ceremony, held at the Prof. R. A. Khan Tahirkheli Auditorium, the Honorable Governor, in his speech, praised the high quality research carried out at the Center and urged the need of quality teaching and research in the field of Earth Sciences. He also urged the scientists of the Center to come forward and help the government in the mineral sector development of the country.
Speaking at the occasion the Vice Chancellor University of Peshawar, Prof. Dr. M. Rasul Jan stressed the need for practical manifestation of the research conducted by the academia. The former Director National Center of Excellence in Geology and incumbent Vice Chancellor Karakorum International University Gilgit-Baltistan, Dr. M. Asif Khan also attended the event and shed light on the efforts made during the implementation process of the project. The Director, Prof. Dr. M. Tahir Shah, elaborated on the achievements of the Centre and highlighted the future vision for bringing this Centre at par with the institutions of international repute. 
The ceremony was attended by faculty and staff of the University of Peshawar and the dignitaries from Public sector departments and relevant ministries.
